President Amber English called the meeting to order at 7:37pm. She had new members go around the room and introduce themselves.  There were seven new members present.

Each officer introduced themself and explained what they do.  Members were encouraged to reach out to officers and get involved on their committees.

Executive Vice President Margarget McMillan represented Service Chair, Ava Fredericks.  She explained that we usually do a monthly clean up in the middle of each month. There will not be one in December and members are should look our for an email and Facebook event announcing the next service event.

Membership Chair Christina Mills encouraged new members to get involved and she said to seek her if you would like to get involved with different committees.

Secretary/ Treasurer Elena Weiss explained her job is to take meeting minutes and help make sure we have money.  She also explained how the tab works at Manuels.

Activism Chair Griffin Wasdin explained that his job is to organize events around the election.  He is also in charge of organizing YDAtl’s lobbying efforts.

Social Chair Justin Saxon explained that his job is to organize social/ networking events. If you have any ideas please let him know.

President Amber English explained the duties of Political Chair TJ Copeland and Finance Chair Justin Tanner.  TJ’s responsibilities are to get people involved in campaigns and to help educate members about the political process in general.  Justin is in charge of fundraising for the chapter and planning the activities that bring in money.

The following upcoming events were announced:

• Thursday, December 8th, 7pm- The Fulton County Democratic Party, along with Metro- Atlanta Democrats will be having a Holiday Party at DPG Headquarters located at 763 Trabert St.

• Young Democrats of Georgia President Louis Elrod announced the YDG Holiday Party to be held on Tuesday, December 13th at 7pm at the lower level of the Park Tavern. All dues paying YD members can attend for free.

New Business:

There was a motion to induct Taylor Stanley as a member.  The motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:53pm.  After the meeting Activism Chair Griffin Wasdin led trivia.

Young Democrats of Atlanta has renewed its commitment to community service by participating in the City of Atlanta’s “Adopt-a-Spot” program. As an organization that seeks to embody the spirit of the Democratic Party, we are working to, as Jason Carter says, “put our values into action” by engaging our community in a simple way—by keeping it clean.

In “adopting” the intersection of North Highland Ave NE and North Ave NE, we have pledged to maintain the City’s right of way in the area through monthly cleanups for one year. We will kick off our new service initiative this Saturday, August 13^th. The event will begin at 8:45am with a short safety training that all volunteers must complete in order to participate. At 9:30am we will start the cleanup! For more information and to RSVP, check out the Facebook event, “YDAtl’s first “Adopt-a-Spot” cleanup!”

All of the necessary tools and safety gear will be provided. You need only show up with a desire to improve our community. We hope to see you bright and early this Saturday!
